Results week ending 29th August 2004

SCOTTISH JUNIOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, GRANGEMOUTH
Fife AC junior athletes bagged a medal haul at the Scottish Junior Track & Field Championships held at Grangemouth Stadium.
Under 20 athlete Jude Beimers, Glenrothes, led the way with double gold posting a triple jump personal best of 14.87 metres well clear of runner-up Antony Daffrun (Airdrie) – 13.79m. The long jump final was a much closer affair with Jude clearing 6.58m just one centimetre ahead of Daniel Harris (Exeter) – 6.57m. Chris Baily, Glenrothes, took 100m bronze in the under 20 final clocking 11.14 seconds as well as 6th in the long jump (6.20m).
Nony Mordi, Cupar, was in golden form in the under 20 women’s triple jump with a Championship Best Performance of 14.86 metres adding a silver medal in the 100m hurdles timed at 14.85 seconds. Michelle Thadeus, St.Andrews, threw 24.44m to finish 6th in the under 20 discus.
Lisa Glover, Glenrothes, produced an under 15 winning javelin throw of 29.54m also taking the shot putt bronze with a throw of 9.96m. Jenny Tan, Falkland, finished 6th in the under 15 girls 800m heats (2 minutes 37.89 seconds) while Jennifer Kibble, Balmullo, reached the final of the 1500m placing 6th (5 minutes 05.72 seconds).
In the under 15 boys category Connor Hill, St.Andrews, capped a fine 400m season with outings over shorter distances to take silver in the 100m (11.77) and bronze in the 80m hurdles (12.77). Kevin Ireland, Kirkcaldy, placed 8th in the under 15 boys triple jump (10.51m).
Garry Brown produced a season’s best of 5.48m to place 8th in the under 17 long jump and finished 7th in his 100m heat (12.22). Rhorry Gauld threw a fine 37.61 metres to finish 7th in the under 17 javelin competition. Keith Simpson 6th 200m heat (24.68) and Phillip Salter 7th, 1500m (4:34.08) also contested the under 17 championships. Liam Deboys contested the under 13 boys 800m final placing 7th (2 minutes 52.57 seconds).

TWO BRIDGES CHALLENGE
Louise Provan completed the Two Bridges Challenge covering the 35 mile course along the banks of the Forth in 5 hours 19 minutes 53 seconds to place 5th woman.

WORLD VETERAN MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS, ITALY
In Italy at the World Veteran Mountain Championships Adrian Davis, Ladybank, finished 52nd in the over 40 age group (55.02) with Mexican M.Rolardo the winner in 43 minutes 02 seconds. Laurie Anderson placed 51st in the male over 45 section, won by T.Borschel (USA) – 48.47. Phyllis Lemoncello came home 10th in the over 55 womens section (75 minutes 21 seconds) behind winner M. Spronk (Germany) – 63.39.

TWO INCHES 10K, PERTH
William Law, Dunshelt, was the club’s first finisher at last Sunday’s Two Inches 10km road race at Perth where 359 finished.
Results: 1 M.Carroll (Dundee Hawkhill) 32.17, 2 G.Barrie (Unatt.) 34.40, 3 d.Marsland (Dumbarton) 36.32, 17 William Law 39.37, 48 Meike Bateman 41.45, 71 Lorna Sibbett 3rd veteran. 43.41, 79 Grant Laycock 44.22, 109 John Keenlyside 46.53, 267 Elaine Carstairs 56.59, 310 Innes Bracegirdle 62.17, 325 Nessie Kirkbride 63.17.

GRAHAM CLARK MEMORIAL RACE, KNOCKHILL
180 runners contested the Graham Clark Memorial Race over three laps of the Knockhill racing circuit with Bryce Aitken, Kirkcaldy, first back for the club in 19th timed at 22 minutes 55 seconds for the 3.9 mile course. Frank McLaren, Kettlebridge, in 28th (23.54) took the first over 50’s award while Margaret McLaren placed 6th women (26.04).
Results: 1 I.Stewart (EZ Carnegie) 1st veteran 20.27, 2 P.Morrison (Carnegie) 20.30. 3 M.Harvey (Carnegie) 2nd veteran. 20.41, 13 Rosalyn Alexander (Carnegie) 22.24, 19 Bryce Aitken 22.55, 25 Ronnie Mill 23.44, 28 Frank McLaren 1st over 50. 23.54, 30 Bill Smith 24.20, 56 Margaret McLaren 26.04, 62 Andy Barker 26.33, 66 David Bee 26.47, 67 Ian Poolman 26.47, 68 Alan Meiklejohn 26.51, 74 Chris Fox 28.02, 79 Graham Bennison 28.24, 81 Alastair Robertson 28.38, 82 Maurice Paterson 28.53, 90 Natasha McIntosh 29.27, 111 Graham Duncan 31.18, 137 Kate Pether Smith (JJ) 34.47.

GLASGOW HALF MARATHON
Results: 469 Leonard Rhone 92.43, 528 Louise Provan 93.37, 661 Sarah Cullen 95.31, 775 Grant Laycock 97.02, 1642 Johanna Paananen 105.10, 3356 Bob Stark 117.39.
