Results week ending 30th May 2004

FRENCH SCHOOLS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, DRUEY
Fife AC under 20 athlete Jude Beimers, Glenrothes, made further progress in the triple jump competing as a guest at the French Schools Track & Field Championships in Druey.
Sixteen-year-old Jude placed second sailing out to a new personal best of 14.41 metres - a qualifying mark for November’s Commonwealth Youth Games in Brisbane.
Further success came in the long jump where a leap of 6.82 metres posted another personal best behind John Carr’s (Airdrie) - 6.88 metres.

SCOTTISH UNDER 13’S TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Nearer to home at Pitreavie the under 13 girls team of Kiri Stone, Meya Stone and Fiona Bracegirdle took the bronze medals in the Scottish Under 13’s three x 800m Championship timed at eight minutes 10.94 seconds. A fine performance by the trio especially with Meya stopping up an age group from the under 11’s.

DUNFERMLINE HALF MARATHON
Eight hundred and 20 runners contested the Dunfermline half marathon with Sam Nelson the lending club member home in 58th place timed at 87 minutes 29 seconds.

LAGGAN 10K
Up North at the Laggan 10k road race Phyllis Lemoncello finished fifth woman, first over 50 clocking a creditable 44 minutes 37 seconds.

KNOCK HILL RACE, CRIEFF
Sixty two runners were in action at the Knock Hill race at Crieff. William Law, Dunshelt, was the first Fife AC runner to finish in ninth place clocking 34 minutes 19 seconds for the five mile (685ft ascent) course.

SRI CHINMOY ONE MILE RACE, EDINBURGH
Over in Edinburgh at the Sri Chinmoy one mile race at the Meadows, Louise Provan, Gauldry, contested her first race back on home soil following six months training in New Zealand. Louise placed seventh female timed at six minutes 06 seconds.

WOMEN’S JOGGING GROUP 5K, ST. ANDREWS
Also in action on the Wednesday were 28 members of the women’s jogging group running over an accurate 5k course out and back over the West Sands, St Andrews.
