Results Week Ending 11th, October.

Home Countries Junior Hill Championships.

Fife AC juniors Jennifer Kibble and Andrew Evans excelled at the Home Countries Junior Hill Running Championships held over Latrigg Fell at Keswick.
Balmullo athlete Jennifer placed 4th in the under 16 girl’s race, Scotland’s first counter with England taking the first three places. Winner Dione Allen clocked 23 minutes 09 seconds over the 4.1 Km (350m) course with Jennifer timed at 24 minutes 39 seconds. Scotland placed third team (30 points) behind England (6) and Ireland (24).
Andrew Evans, St.Andrew’s, finished 2nd in the under 14 boy’s race behind Scottish team colleague Matthew Gillespie. Gillespie, winner of the Scottish junior road title the previous week clocked 16 minutes 05 seconds for the 2.67km (263m) course with Andrew timed at 16 minutes 17 seconds.

Fife Secondary Schools Road Relays.

Both Jennifer and Andrew were in action at Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy at the Fife Secondary Schools Road Relay Championships. Jennifer anchored the Bell Baxter team to victory in the over 15 race with the days fastest female time of 7 minutes 54 seconds partnered by Philippa Turnbull and Susan Jackson. Andrew clocked the fastest time of 7 minutes 26 seconds for Madras in the under 15 race. The fastest times were dominated by Fife club athletes with Elliott Simpson’s 7 minutes 07 seconds helping Balwearie to second team place - the fastest time over the 1.3 mile course.
Gauldry member Fiona Bracegirdle posted the fastest under 15 girls time of 8 minutes 09 seconds to bring Madras through into second but it was the Bell Baxter team of Emma Todd (9.02), Kiri Stone (8.34) and Jenny Tan (8.56) that retained the title with fourth, second and third fastest times respectively. Sarah Kelly clocked the second fastest time of 8 minutes 24 seconds in the 1st year girl’s event helping Bell Baxter to team silver.

Louise Goes Double Again !!

Club Senior Louise Provan went ‘double’ for the third successive weekend placing 4th at Saturday’s 10 mile (2300ft) Manor Water Hill Race near Peebles in 1 hour 40 minutes before placing 4th in the Thirlstane Castle Cross-Country at Lauder on the Sunday. Louise covered the 5 mile route in 34 minutes 46 seconds.

Pentland Skyline hill race.

There was a large field of 200 runners contesting the gruelling 16 mile Pentland Skyline Hill race with a mind-boggling total ascent of 6,200ft. Louise Burt, St.Andrew’s, was in top form placing 62nd overall, 4th woman in 3 hours 12 minutes while Bob Allison, Glenrothes, came home in 116th (3:38.19), Richard Shaw, Lower Largo, finished 150th (4:10.45).

Loch Ness Marathon

Jim Taylor completed the previous weeks Loch Ness Marathon placing 275th in 3 hours 46 minutes 22 seconds. Jim Haig placed 304th (3:49.24) and Johanna Paananen 359th (3:54.44).

Dunbar 10 mile road race

At the Dunbar 10 mile road race Kirkcaldy runner Dick Westwater finished 71st (75 minutes 38 seconds).
